“Meredith! Come down now!” shouted Auntie May once she saw me at the front door. My chest heaved in anticipation, and my heart was at full throttle. I just realized how warm the Winter night can be.
A graceful movement down the stairs attracted my attention. “My God,” I uttered. Her brown hair was let loose and bounced off her slender shoulders. Her gentle, hazel eyes gleamed in happiness, and her caring smile calmed me down. My princess is here.
I mouthed a “hi”, but no voice came out. I quickly passed her the corsage of white roses. She grinned at my wrecked nerves.
“Well, I guess you’ll be taking off now!” chuckled Auntie May, winking at me.
